Virginia Coalition to End Homelessness
Hello, my name is Danielle O’Leary and I am a part of the AmeriCorps NCCC Delta 7 team here in Hampton, VA.
The Delta 7 team has been working hard in a variety of jobs with different organizations. The team had the opportunity to work at several housing units throughout Hampton to improve the accessibility and aesthetic appearance of these homes. At one of the Veterans Affairs’ housing units, members of the team cleaned the gutters, mowed the lawn and removed vines from the surrounding fences.
AmeriCorps NCCC team Delta 7 arrived in Hampton VA on July 17, where they started orientation and learned about the programs in surrounding areas that work hard to implement solutions to homelessness.
Hello. My name is Joey and I’m part of the NCCC team serving with VCEH in Hampton for six weeks. When I first heard we were going to help veterans who are experiencing homelessness find homes, I was excited to go out on the streets and get work done. Little did I know of the plethora of important work that happens “behind the scenes.”
Delta 1, the AmeriCorps NCCC team, arrived in Hampton on March 30th earnest and prepared to add the manpower of eight individuals to Virginia’s initiative to end veteran homelessness by the end of 2015.
