H2 Summit Materials

The Governor’s Coordinating Council on Homelessness sponsored the June 5th, 2017 summit entitled Social Determinants of Health: Creating Housing Solutions for Virginia’s Vulnerable Citizens. The summit brought together traditional and non-traditional stakeholders invested in housing stability and positive health outcomes for individuals with physcial and behavioral health challenges.

Participants learned about strategies and initiatives that address the health and behavioral health needs of individuals who are experiencing homelessness, many of whom frequently use jails, hospitals, and behavioral health crisis services. Presenters and audience members were leaders in state and local healthcare, behavioral health, criminal justice and housing organizations, as well as the private philanthropic sector. The ultimate goal of the summit was to create a springboard for increased strategic investment in interventions that improve both housing stability and health outcomes for individuals with housing, health, and behavioral health needs.
