VHA’s 2025-2026 AmeriCorps VISTA members have been hard at work, and they recently passed the halfway point of their service term. We are excited to share some of their completed and ongoing projects in our new 2025-2026 AmeriCorps VISTA Cohort 6-Month Impact Report!
Highlights from the 6-Month Impact Report
- 50: The number of grant proposals submitted by current VISTA members
- 144: Policies, manuals, guidebooks, and other resources created by our current VISTA Cohort
- 95: Community assessments completed by the current VISTA Cohort
- 204: Staff and community volunteers who have received training from current VISTA members
- 3,022: Hours of professional development training completed by current VISTA members
- $63,940: Funds generated through VISTA-led efforts (including fundraising, in-kind donations, and grants)
About the Current VISTA Cohort
Our current cohort of thirteen VISTA members began their full-time, year-long AmeriCorps terms in August of 2025. These dedicated, mission-driven individuals are serving communities across the Commonwealth, from Richmond to Roanoke, Arlington to Urbanna, and cities and towns in between.
About the Virginia Housing Alliance VISTA Program
The VHA AmeriCorps VISTA project is a federal service program that allocates up to 18 VISTA members to deliver on-the-ground support to one of our host sites across Virginia – organizations that are developing, providing, or otherwise supporting homeless response systems or working to expand affordable housing in the Commonwealth. VISTA members serve one 12-month, full-time term on a capacity- building project that aids their host organization in more effectively serving their constituents. During their AmeriCorps term, VISTA members gain professional development and career readiness skills while addressing housing insecurity in their communities and across the state.
Since 2014, VHA’s AmeriCorps VISTA members have:
- Provided 1,212 organizations with capacity-building services
- Implemented 734 new systems, software, or databases
- Recruited or managed 5,875 community volunteers
- Generated $14.4 million in total cash resources
