VHA is delighted to introduce Avery Bowers, the Resource Development VISTA serving at Habitat for Humanity of Virginia in Charlottesville.

Current Project:

As the Resource Development VISTA member at Habitat for Humanity of VA, the best part about Avery’s job is the opportunity to understand a variety of topics, such as scaling up Habitat’s solar energy program or navigating the ins and outs of a loan fund, while also working with many different people and organizations. Avery enjoys being challenged each day and always learning something new. Avery is developing policies, such as an inspection policy, for the Virginia Land Trust, evaluating loan applications, and conducting site visits to cultivate strong partnerships with Habitat statewide affiliates. About Avery:

Avery Bowers grew up just north of Richmond, Virginia. He attended the University of Virginia where he studied Philosophy and History. During college, Avery felt most fulfilled when he spent time working and volunteering in the local Charlottesville community, which led him to the Virginia Housing Alliance AmeriCorps VISTA program. In his free time Avery enjoys reading novels, playing basketball, and listening to live music.
