General Assembly (Finally) Passed a Budget for FY24

Earlier this month, state lawmakers came to an agreement on a state budget for fiscal year 2024, which started in July, 2023. Governor Youngkin signed the budget on September 14th. We are excited to announce that the budget included a $30 million increase in funding for the permanent supportive housing voucher program administered by the Department of Behavioral Health and Disability Services (DBHDS). In addition, lawmakers granted sufficient funding for the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) to conduct a statewide housing needs assessment, which VHA advocated for during the 2023 legislative session. Unfortunately, the budget did not include any increases to the Affordable Housing Trust Fund.
