Desiree Alston, a South Carolina native, is a seasoned Lead Housing Stability Coordinator with a decade of experience in the housing services industry. She has held progressive positions at Community Housing Partners (CHP) for eight years. Since joining the organization in 2017, she has consistently demonstrated a commitment to enhancing the lives of residents through compassionate service, strategic program coordination, and leadership development. She began her career as an intern at Mercy Housing, followed by a tenure at CHP, where she progressed through various roles. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Savannah State University. As a Lead Resident Services Coordinator, Desiree is dedicated to supporting children, families, and seniors. In 2021, in response to the national housing crisis exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, Desiree was appointed to CHP’s newly established Housing Stability Team. In this pivotal role, she made significant contributions to the implementation of the federally funded Emergency Rent Relief Program. Over the course of two years, her team secured over $8 million in rental assistance for CHP residents, with Desiree personally facilitating over $1 million in aid. In recognition of her expertise, professionalism, and leadership potential, she graduated from Community Housing Partners’ (CHP) “Aspiring Leaders” program, a proprietary leadership development course. She subsequently earned certifications as a Specialist in Family Self-Sufficiency and as a Certified Rental Housing Counselor. These accomplishments demonstrate her deep commitment to continuous learning and her drive to expand the scope and impact of her work. Currently, she leads two innovative pilot programs designed to enhance housing stability for residents while supporting CHP’s financial sustainability.
