The National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) have released a comprehensive update to the Rental Housing Programs Database (RHPD). This database provides a wealth of information on state and locally funded programs dedicated to the creation, preservation, and expansion of affordable rental housing. The 2023 RHPD focuses on programs that offer a range of assistance, including tenant-based rental assistance, project-based rental assistance, capital resources, combinations of rental assistance and capital resources, and tenant tax relief. Using information from the database, they also published an accompanying report that reveals a total of 353 active rental housing programs across 48 states, 41 cities, and the District of Columbia as of August 2023. The RHPD is a crucial resource for housing advocates, state and local agencies, policymakers, and anyone interested in identifying successful models to tackle affordable housing challenges in their own communities.
