True Ground Housing Partners provides affordable rental homes for more than 5,700 neighbors across the DC region, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to live in a stable, welcoming community. Through its CORES-certified resident services program, the organization partners with local providers and volunteers to remove barriers, connect residents to resources, and help families and individuals build brighter futures.
This year, True Ground opened its first Washington, DC community, delivering 93 affordable apartments for adults 55+, and broke ground on two new developments: a 130-unit senior community in Loudoun County and The Sweeney in Arlington, which will add 432 affordable apartments to the region. Resident services initiatives such as Ready to Learn, Holiday Magic, and The People’s Pantry continue to provide critical support and opportunities for neighbors of all ages.
Looking ahead, True Ground will host its annual Celebrate Home! benefit on October 23, 2025 at Capital One Hall in Tysons, VA, honoring Matt Birenbaum, Chief Investment Officer at AvalonBay Communities, for his extraordinary contributions to affordable housing and community development. Proceeds from the event directly fund the organization’s $2 million resident services program, which provides individualized, compassionate support to residents across all communities.
