VHA Member Spotlight: Northern Virginia Affordable Housing Alliance

The Northern Virginia Affordable Housing Alliance (NVAHA) works to increase supply and equitable access to affordable housing in Northern Virginia through education, advocacy, and community partnership. The organization works in Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William.

NVAHA recently merged with the Alliance for Housing Solutions, an Arlington-based advocacy organization, to create a unified organization that will allow them to meet the diverse housing needs of Northern Virginia communities. The newly formed organization is able to be more locally responsive and regionally united.

NVAHA values their membership and partnership with the Virginia Housing Alliance, and values VHA’s ability to bring statewide affordable housing legislation and budget advocacy to all housing partners. NVAHA’s Executive Director, Jill Norcross, participates on VHA’s Legislative Committee, and Brian Koziol, VHA’s Executive Director, sits on NVAHA’s Leadership Council. NVAHA has found their collaborative relationship with VHA to be extremely important in creating success for affordable housing and equitable communities in the Commonwealth.

Jill Norcross, Executive Director, says: “We are grateful to partner with VHA as a member organization. We have enjoyed the opportunity to advocate in person with our staff and supporters at VHA’s Housing Advocacy Day in Richmond, and we look forward to more opportunities for our two organizations to collaborate on education and programming. This partnership has amplified the work NVAHA is able to do, and we appreciate VHA’s leadership on expanding housing opportunities throughout the Commonwealth.”
