VHA is pleased to introduce another member of our 2025-2026 VISTA cohort, Victor Villalta, who is working with the Lighthouse Beloved Community in Lynchburg, Virginia, as its Community Land Trust Communications Strategist VISTA.
About Victor:
Victor is originally from Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and currently resides in Lynchburg, Virginia. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science Engineering from the Catholic University of Honduras and recently completed his Master of Science in Cybersecurity from Liberty University. With over 27 years of experience in education, Victor has served in multiple roles, including teaching and technology support, and has developed a passion for helping organizations build secure, resilient systems that serve communities with excellence.
Victor chose to serve as a VISTA because he believes in the power of service to transform lives and communities. Inspired by his faith and the call to love and serve others, Victor hopes to use his technical skills and background in education to strengthen systems that support vulnerable populations, improve organizational processes, and foster digital access. He aims to grow in his understanding of community development, develop stronger collaborative leadership skills, and make a meaningful impact through sustainable projects that will benefit others long after his service is complete.
Outside of work, Victor enjoys reading, studying scripture, working on home improvement projects, and spending time with family. A fun fact about Victor: he has a deep love for traveling and enjoys exploring different regions around the world.
Current Project:
As a VISTA member, Victor is currently focused on developing and delivering a Homebuyers Education Class in both English and Spanish. This project is designed to increase access to reliable, culturally relevant financial education for individuals and families who may face language barriers or lack familiarity with the homebuying process. The classes cover essential topics such as credit readiness, budgeting, mortgage options, and navigating the homebuying journey with confidence.
The impact of this project extends beyond individual participants by strengthening the organization’s ability to serve a more diverse community and promote long-term housing stability. By offering bilingual education, Victor is advancing broader goals of empowerment and economic self-sufficiency, while helping community members make informed decisions that support generational stability and wealth-building through homeownership.
