The National Low-Income Housing Coalition nonpartisan Our Homes, Our Votes campaign released a new edition of its biennial report on housing and homelessness ballot measures. The report, Housing and Homelessness on the Ballot: November 2024 covers 100 state and local measures addressing affordable housing appearing on ballots in the recent election. Topics of the ballot measures included preservation, reallocation, zoning, land use, tenant protections, and punitive homelessness responses. The devolution of housing and homelessness issues to local and state ballot shows promise in mobilizing a ground swell of calls to action for much needed housing policy solutions. In an increasingly turbulent housing policy environment, direct ballot measures are a simpler way to demand change. Read the full report here.
