VHA is excited to introduce Elizabeth Shackelford, the Marketing and Communications VISTA at Virginia Housing Alliance in Richmond, VA.

About Elizabeth

Elizabeth Shackelford is excited to join VHA this year as an AmeriCorps VISTA. She recently graduated from the University of Virginia, where she studied English and History. In college, Elizabeth joined different service clubs on campus where she gained a passion for community partnerships and learned about Virginia’s housing crisis. Having grown up in the Commonwealth, she is enthusiastic about making a difference in her home state. In her free time, she enjoys reading both fiction and nonfiction books, making arts and crafts, and playing fetch with her dog, Maple. 

Current Project

At VHA, Elizabeth is working to increase community involvement in affordable housing advocacy and engagement. She is currently creating a housing resource and training guide to make housing advocacy and education more accessible to the broader Virginia community. Additionally, she has been working to improve VHA’s communications by streamlining procedures, developing new outreach strategies, and enhancing the quality of new and existing data. She is excited to learn more about housing every day, and she looks forward to continuing to serve her community.
