VHA is excited to introduce Sven Gangsei, the Quality Assurance VISTA member at True Ground Housing Partners in Arlington, VA.

About Sven:

Sven graduated from Virginia Tech, with a double major in Business Information Technology and Business Management, and his experience during college working with local non-profits such as the YMCA at Virginia Tech caused him to seek further opportunities to give back to his community, leading him to VHA. Sven was born on Fort Belvoir and has lived in Barbados, Vermont, and New York, but he has spent the majority of his life in Northern Virginia. The opportunity to join VHA as a VISTA member and support the expansion of affordable housing in the community he grew up in was highly appealing to him. Sven has spent his VISTA year serving his community, gaining valuable work experience, and working with other people who are similarly passionate about providing affordable housing. Recently, Sven was accepted into the University of Virginia’s School of Law and will be attending in fall of 2025. 

Current Project

Currently, Sven is preparing to host a data walk using the data gathered in True Ground’s 2024 Resident Needs Assessment. In this event, residents of True Ground properties and other community members will be able to view and engage with the survey data, with the hopes of providing them with a greater understanding of their communities and how True Ground uses the collected data. Additionally, Sven looks forward to using this opportunity to further his understanding of True Ground communities through face-to-face communication with residents, and he hopes to use this understanding to inform and improve future True Ground events and programming.
